Radio Body Music was able to interrupt Kybernaut 783 for an interview during the recording of the third of four albums and ask a few questions.
Radio Body Music : "You record actually the 3rd of the four Kybernaut albums which you like to publish all together. How far are you with it?"
Kybernaut 783 : "Actual I do the last changes before the endmix!"
Radio Body Music : "You have announced four albums together. Why don´t you publish one by one?"
Kybernaut 783 : "Quite simple. Firstly, because I'm in the mood to make this kind of music. I'm in the flow right now, meaning I can fit the same kind of music I want to make on four albums. If I were to interrupt this flow and, for example, record one album each year for the next four years, the result would certainly be completely different than if I recorded four albums one after the other. Secondly, if you like the first album, you'll also like the second, third, and fourth album which will be available as CD, Download, MC and Direct-Cut-Vinyl. With 52 years, I simply don't have the time to plan releases for the next few years and, for example, release a new album every one or two years."
Radio Body Music : "The MC and the Direct-Cut-Vinyl are very limited. Why the low limitation and please explain why the production-costs of the Direct-Cut-Vinyl is so expensive?"
Kybernaut 783 : "The MC is experiencing a rebirth like the Vinyl since a few years, but naturally not in the same extent. But I have requests for this format and so I am open for a production. Why not? Of every album I will produce a MC, but with an other Cover motive and a new name as the CD/Download/Direct-Cut-Vinyl."
Radio Body Music : "Why?"
Kybernaut 783 : "This has something to do with the dimensions of the MC cover. It is not always possible to make a rectangular motif from a square motif that it looks good at the end. Either you leave out a large part or distort the original motif. Neither of these two possibilities made sense, so I decided to put the Kybernaut 783 logo at the MC-cover and simply number them in four different colors, i.e. No. 1 is the album “Robot Dance”, No. 2 is the album “Radio Waves”, No. 3 is the album “Artificial Intelligence” and No. 4 is the album “The Great Equalizer.”
Radio Body Music : "At the MCs are songs which have longer versions as the same songs at the CD/Download/Direct-Cut-Vinyl and the are to find only at this MCs. Is that right?”
Kybernaut 783 : "Yes, this is right. The running time of the MCs is 2x45 Minutes. I dont like to have after the last song at one side no music till the end, so I found a solution to make extended versions of some songs that the 45 Minutes are per side full of music.”
Radio Body Music : "Uninformed people will criticize the very high price of direct-cut vinyl without knowing how high the production costs actually are. Would you like to comment on this and why pressed vinyl isn't used?”
Kybernaut 783 : "I have no secrets. I'll start with the second question. I want to offer as many vinyl colors as possible. If, for example, I like to produce six different vinyl colors per album, I would first have to purchase a minimum quantity: usually 300-500 copies x 6 different vinyl colors x 4 different albums. This means I would have to pre-finance, store, and ship somewhere between 7,200 and 12,000 records. Does anyone have any idea how many 12,000 records are? Not to mention also the between 7,200 and 12,000 packaging cartons for the Vinyls for sending the Vinyls to the customers. I would have to rent a warehouse!
My answer to the first question :
You can see ia the screenshot how high are my costs when I order the Direct-Cut-Vinyl in bronze-colour with label-prints and the cover-print. But the costs doesn´t end with this. I must registrate this single record at the german GEMA and pay at the net price 14,5% GEMA costs. At this point the costs are 176.12 €. Then I must add also the German VAT and my price is 209.58 €€. Who is able to calculate see that I make a “unbelieveable profit” of 41 Cent! And of this 41 cent I must also pay the Graphics/Motifs of the covers and the German tax office like to have also their portion of this “unbelieveable profit”!”

Radio Body Music : "At the end it is only a non-profit offer for the fans?”
Kybernaut 783 : "At the end : yes. But when you know how much work it is, you must be surprised why I offer this Direct-Cut-Vinyl : I love Vinyl and when the customers also love it, than the customer can get exactely the colour which he like to have. Every Vinyl-Cover will be individually printed and at the backside you can find a consecutive number and the ordered Vinyl-Colour is also mentioned. So every Cover must also be updated ... it is really too much work.”
Radio Body Music : "In fact the Direct-Cut-Vinyl is manufactured according to customer requirements?”
Kybernaut 783 : "Yes, definitly."
Radio Body Music : "Where does the name Kybernaut 783 come from?"
Kybernaut 783 : "One of my favourite songs are both parts of “Die Kybernauten” by Klangwerk. This is the origin of the first part of the name.”
Radio Body Music : "And the number 783?"
Kybernaut 783 : "It has no meaning. It should just look good!"
Radio Body Music : "Was there a trigger for you to found Kybernaut 783?"
Kybernaut 783 : "It actually existed. I knew roughly what I wanted to use for drums and that it would be a combination of vocoder and film samples, but I was still missing the rest. I finally figured it out at the Mera Luna Festival, which we went to just to see Nitzer Ebb again after such a long time. For whatever reason, Nitzer Ebb had no longer had their beautiful, fat bass lines, but instead just some kind of burbling sounds - as it looks like from a bad TB 303 clone. That's when I knew that it was precisely these fat bass lines, which I had in my archive, that I wanted to combine with the rest of the stuff I described above.
Radio Body Music : "Are there bands which had influenced Kybernaut 783?"
Kybernaut 783 : "The Kraftwerk-esque drums might suggest a musical connection to this band, but that would be presumptuous and inappropriate. I like the sound of the drums they use in the “Electric Café”-Album. The fact that some of it sounds similar to other bands' is more due to the fact that I primarily use Synths and Drum-Machines from the 80s and very early 90s, which the bands of that era also used. It's like if I use the Solton Arranger or the Solton Programmer 24, and then some people wondered why this Basslines sounds like the Basslines from some other Italo Disco songs : well, because at least 90% of the Italo disco bands of the time used that machines. That gives me an idea for the 5th album, by the way...
But back to the question: There are no directly influences by bands, because I personally don't know any band that does the same sounds like Kybernaut 783. Influences from other musical styles are more likely, but that may vary from song to song. There's a certain approach to the Basslines : it sounds New Beat, it has a touch of Aggrepo,... or, as in a recent song from the last two of their four albums, one has a touch of Anhalt EBM. But that quickly changes over the course of the song.
Radio Body Music : “What kind of idea do you have?”
Kybernaut 783 : "I worked nearly 3 years with a singer at a 80s/Italo Disco project, but at the end I must stop this ineffect work which costs only too much lifetime so that I have now not used Solton Arranger Basslines in the archive for three albums. The song “Erich von Däniken” contains also one of this Basslines, so I will choose 15 more for the 5th album.
Radio Body Music: "Won't some people get on your nerves if you rework an existing song into a new one? What example of such a song can you give?"
Kybernaut 783: "These are just two of the four already released "The 80s" songs that I made with the Danish EBM project "Leaether Strip" in preparation for the three albums, none of which, as I mentioned, ever was finished by the vocalist. One is almost the entirety of "Depeche Mode Party" and a part of "I Was A Gothic In The 80s." It would be a shame not to use these two songs for Kybernaut 783, as they fit perfectly into the overall concept."
Radio Body Music: "Can this be understood like The Pro 24's song "Technotronic"? Jo Bogaert then reworked it, used the original song name as the band name, and with Kid K's vocals, it became the worldwide hit "Pump Up The Jam"?"
Kybernaut 783: "Exactly! Nobody was upset that the song had already been released."
Radio Body Music : "Let us return to the music of Kybernaut 783. What instruments do you use?”
Kybernaut 783 : "I describe the music I do with Kybernaut 783 as a mix of Techno Pop - in this case I mean only the Drums -, Vocoder Electronics, Electro, Space Synth and Synthwave. I use also the typical Instruments which also Kraftwerk use like the Stylophone Synths, the Quasimidi Sirius (which was produced with help of Kraftwerk members), Jupiter 80, Korg MS-20, MS-101, SH-101, Electro Harmonix Rhythm 12, Korg KR55, Soundmaster SR-88 and some more."
Radio Body Music : "You told me that you use only a few times VSTs. Why?”
Kybernaut 783 : "Maybe a person which create music hear music which does others in an different way than a normal music consumer. I have heard often that bands/Project buy a music program, but have then no money to kick the VST out and buy better and more quality VSTs to include them in their music program. So they use what others use and the songs have the same basic sounds. This is pure stress for me. Its the same at the end of the 80s and at the very beginning of the 90s. It wasn´t hard to hear that the bands/Project from that time use the TR 808 or TR 909 Drummachines. The same with the typical sounds of Korg-Synths, Rolands-Synths and Yamaha-Synths. I had a ear for this ...”
I don´t like to do it with Kybernaut 783 like most of the Bands/Projects today and so I have taken several technical steps back instead of using the possibilities of today!”
Radio Body Music : "How exactly?"
Kybernaut 783 : "I use a music program, but nearly no VST. I use in 68 songs only in the song “Acid” a virtual Synth for the voice sample “Acid” and in the songs “Technology”, “The Groove”, “Keep This Frequency Clear”, “I Believe” and “Report To The Commander” omly for the Synth parts.
The Kicks, HiHats, Snare, Zaps, ... are recorded "One-Shots" in .wav and was collected over 2 decades. So I have collected over so many years the perfect “One-Shots” for Kybernaut 783 which I have combined with mostly analogue Basslines, Vocoder, Voice Samples from Films, ...”
Radio Body Music : "You told me that you are your own Drummachine. Please explain this!”
Kybernaut 783 : "Well, I put the One-Shots in my music program exact there where I like to have it, without using the .wav “One-Shots” for example in a VST Drummachine.”
Radio Body Music : "But this is so many work. Why this massive work for what what other Bands/Projects does in a few minutes with VSTs?”
Kybernaut 783 : "If I had used hardware drums or VST drums, I would only have been able to do what a programmer of the devices or programs would have allowed me to do. At the end it is in fact not possible to make this what I want and then I must take at the end what "fits best". This is not what I want. When I put Snares, Hihats, Kicks, ... with hand in my music program I get at the end exactely that what I like to have and not what a Hradware programmer from the 80s allows me to do, for example like the TR 606, TR 707, TR 808 or the TR 909 Drum-Machine."
Radio Body Music : "I have listened till now to the first 2 albums and I noticed that you use only 2-3 Kicks and the 4/4 beat. Why?”
Kybernaut 783 : "You heard right. I've been searching for a "Kybernaut 783" kick for a long time and have turned it into a real science. Actually, almost all TR 808 Kicks would have fit, but this Kicks was used very, very often for 80s/90s Hip Hop and Miami Bass. Because I don´t do this music styles with Kybernaut 783, I must find other Kicks. So I checked my Kick collection and of many hundred Kicks at the end only 4 Kicks remained. In the frist three of four albums I use the 4/4 beat. This is the best for Kybernaut 783 and also the best if I will play in future live. If I like to do Walzer, I will choose the 3/3 beat, but for Kybernaut 783 the 4/4 beat is perfect.”
Radio Body Music : "Is there a common thematic thread in your albums or songs?”
Kybernaut 783 : "Sure : space, time, technology, computers, outer space, humans, future, aliens, end times, machines ... .”
Radio Body Music : "You have at your albums always 16 songs with a nearly maximum possible running-time. Why?”
Kybernaut 783 : "I´m not Depeche Mode to publish for example the album “Violator” with a running time around 40 minutes! :-) This is a joke!I think that for the price a customer pay everyone can expect a Kybernaut 783 full of music. This is my philosphy and I will not change this philosophy!”
Radio Body Music : “After the fourth album “Artificial Intelligence” you start again with the song “Erich von Däniken”. Please tell us about this song.”
Kybernaut 783 : "”Erich von Däniken” is a song which I have written at the beginning of the Corona time. The former singer sang it well, but since he didn't live around the corner, 3 Albums full songs had to be recorded in 2 days for the project planned at the time. We discovered on location that this obviously didn't work : his voice disappeared during the recording process, became thin, etc. Despite this, he sang exactly on the bass line/kick, which was great. What wasn't great were the vocal problems that arose, and also the recording quality, because at that point something went wrong with the computer that unfortunately made satisfactory quality vocal recordings impossible. The same thing happened with all other songs."
Radio Body Music : “The song is dedicated to Erich von Däniken. Did you have to ask him for permission?”
Kybernaut 783 : "Yes, you have to ask permission from living people to whom something is dedicated, and from deceased people from their relatives. In Erich's case, I approached Ramon, his secretary and right-hand man. I had to submit the lyrics for Erich's approval. He did, and I got the OK for the song."
Radio Body Music : “What happened with this songs?”
Kybernaut 783 : "A catastrophy! Shortly after we finish this recordings the hard drive dies so that at the end only two songs with his vocals survived. One of this two songs was “Erich von Däniken”.
For all other songs I search a new singer and I found two of them, but as it looks like I decide myself for the wrong singer. After a work of nearly 3 years he hasn´t sent me nothing what it could be published (we plan to publish 3 Albums at the same time)., so that I decided to stop all activities with him.”
Kybernaut 783 : "Am I right that he needs nearly 3 years for the same songs what the first singer have done in 2 days?”
Kybernaut 783 : "Yes, but I must says that he also have done some additional sounds for the songs, but after he have sent me the Vocals and the additional sounds my Computer nearly crushed! I worked with a lot of people and bands in the past, but this never happened before. Normally he had to check his program, what was the problem with his files (maybe wrong kHz, Bit, ...) so that I can mix and master all. But he havent done this so that at the end he found himslef in this role, but believe it or not he has never done a mastering ... and till thet time he has published so many 80s Cover-Versions Albums and Depeche Mode Cover-Version-Albums. ... At the end it costs myself so much power, money and time for really nothing!”
Radio Body Music : "How do you want to release the song “Erich von Däniken?”
Kybernaut 783 : "Only as a 7” in Direct-Cut-Vinyl!”
Radio Body Music : “Why only as 7” ?”
Kybernaut 783 : “ The song is sung, but Kybernaut 783 use only voice samples, so the song don´t fit in the concept of Kybernaut 783”
Radio Body Music : “In the songs from the first two albums I've heard, I notice some of the really heavy Basslines. Tell me a bit more about that."
Kybernaut 783 : "A few years I trade with Synths, Drum-Machines, etc. For a while, I used them and always saved the Basslines in my archive. I wasn't able to use them for the music genres at the time, but I'm sure the time would come for them someday. In this case, it actually needs exactly 25 years to use the oldest Bassline in my archive!"
Radio Body Music : “It's not always easy to find kicks that don't either drown out the bass line or are too weak for the Basslines..."
Kybernaut 783 : "That's why I'm so intensively working on THE perfect kicks for the Kybernaut 783 songs! Please don't forget that mixing .wav "one-shots," analog Basslines, etc., is different than those who do everything with VSTs and then perfectly mixing and mastering the whole thing with a single program. Here, it's much more difficult to mix everything so that some things don't add up, or some even subtract!"
Radio Body Music : “Do you have live plans?
Kybernaut 783 : "Yes. I can play 30 minutes, 45 minutes, 1 hour or for a Full-Time gig of 1,5 hours + encore, from the second half of 2025."

Kybernaut 783 : "Thank you for your interest!”
